unctuous mouthfeel with flavors of white pepper, apricot and peach. the sweetness and acidity is well-balanced, but the acidity comes rushing in too fast and overpowers the delicate flavors. flavors of peach and apricot return briefly on the finish. faint apricot on the nose.

faint aroma, short flavor & powerful acidity. sadly, the acidity is too big for the flavors of slate and fig. these intriguing flavors make a brief appearance before being quickly replaced with a bold lime acidity. not unpleasant, but not balanced. the acidic rush makes this wine difficult to enjoy.

no luck with wines lately : (
the beginning was promising: a nose full of blackberry jam came spilling out when we opened the bottle. a late morning breakfast with toast smothered with ripe jam came to mind. the wine smelled powerfully of alcohol. we decanted the wine and let it breathe for a few hours, while we went outside to plant new holly shrubs in the backyard.

back in the kitchen, we could barely wait to taste the new wine. the nose had softened to raisins and plums, cinnamon and black pepper, but the smell of heat and alcohol remained. we poured the glasses and hoped for the best. sadly, the wine barely revealed its flavor and quickly burned our throats with its heat.

fortunately, the aged rib-eye steaks and roasted potatoes and winter squash were delicious! guess we have another bottle to cook with.

more minerality than Tres Picos. drank with food first. unsure what it's like without food. simple flavors that linger. excellent value.

Bright, clean, fresh fruit aroma upon opening. Good acidity. Excellent with food. Probably good with tapas. Caramel vanilla aromas after it's been open for a while.
